My dear brilliant thinkers...
Are we in the age of AI (Artificial Intelligence)? What does that even mean?
For some, it's giving power and trust to non-humans, to technology, to machines.
Considering the state of the world, created by humans, one could question: is this perhaps such a bad thing?
When we feel we must seek comfort from chatbots because we feel alone in the world, rejected, misunderstood, or ridiculed?
When our only access to advice comes from machines because we have nowhere else or no one else to turn to?
When software becomes a reliable confidant because we've lost community and are no longer living like the group animal we're designed to be?
At the end of the day, this question lingers: Should we fear (generative) AI, or should we fear the tiny minority of humans controlling and manipulating a vast majority of other humans through their creations and their many weaknesses?
Here at The School of Thoughts, we're making a human decision to try to limit the damage a very small, elite cohort of American men are causing, and attempt to reduce their control over our data and safety, as well as yours when engaging with SoT online.
This means this new website is hosted by Webador, an EU-based, GDPR-compliant company.
It means using Swiss-based Proton's business suit instead of Google and Microsoft, including email, cloud storage, online conference calls, documents (etc).
It also means writing blog posts without AI, making them not only fully human-generated but also wonderfully imperfect, including spelling and grammar mistakes and confusing sentence structures.
You're so very welcome!
I hope you join us in being human together.
Thank you for being here in this space.
Wishing you a calm day,
